Art on the Wall: A Tribute to Graffiti Culture

Graffiti is more than just paint on a wall—it’s a movement, a culture, and a living history of the streets. As a photographer and filmmaker, I’ve dedicated my work to capturing this raw, expressive art form and the people who bring it to life. My latest photography book, Art on the Wall, is a visual journey through some of the most iconic graffiti spaces, starting with the legendary 5POINTZ in Queens, NYC, and moving into the vibrant walls of the Bushwick Collective.
Honoring 5POINTZ: A Lost Mecca of Street Art
The first chapter of Art on the Wall is a tribute to 5POINTZ, a place that was once the beating heart of graffiti culture in New York. Artists from all over the world came to paint on its walls, creating a living museum of aerosol art. But in 2013, the entire site was whitewashed overnight by developers, erasing years of history and creativity. Though the walls are gone, the legacy of 5POINTZ lives on through the artists who painted there and those, like myself, who documented its final days.
While 5POINTZ may be gone, New York’s graffiti culture thrives at places like the Bushwick Collective in Brooklyn. This open-air gallery is a haven for street artists who continue to push the boundaries of public art. In Art on the Wall, I showcase powerful images of these murals alongside breakdancer Ze Motion, whose energy and movement bring the walls to life. His dynamic poses in front of the artwork highlight the synergy between graffiti and hip-hop culture—two art forms that have always gone hand in hand.
From Sydney to Times Square and MoMA PS1
As a Greek-Australian artist from Sydney, I never imagined that my photography would reach the world’s biggest digital billboards in Times Square or be sold at MoMA PS1’s bookstore. Seeing Art on the Wall in such prestigious locations is a dream come true and a testament to the power of graffiti as an art form that resonates globally.

Beyond photography, I’ve also captured graffiti culture through film. My short documentary Louie KR.ONE Gasparro 5POINTZ has won over 70 awards on the film festival circuit. Louie Gasparro is a legend in the graffiti world, and this film is a tribute to his legacy and the space that shaped so many artists.
Bringing the Exhibition to NYC
Following a successful exhibition in Sydney, my next goal is to bring Art on the Wall—both the book and the photography show—to New York City. It feels only right to present this work in the birthplace of graffiti culture, where these images were originally captured.
Graffiti is an art form that refuses to be silenced. Even as walls are painted over, torn down, or redeveloped, the spirit of the artists who created them lives on. Through Art on the Wall and my film work, I hope to preserve and celebrate that spirit for generations to come.
