Kaleidoscopic Dream Distortion: Mari Mocha

Sitting in this high grass meadow, I was able to greet God in their full bloom. In comes a deep, relaxed breath. A day like heaven, where the sun twinkled in the sky and the breeze coated us softly, Creationship found Mari, Nae and I. Amidst the mile high grass, a welcoming afternoon led to the sharing of creation until it sparked something new in one of us, the consciousness of this sound choosing her vessel for embodiment, ready to transition from the ethers onto this plane. “I feel like making a song right now” said Mari, locking into her phone, a space that only her and Source knew. The gift became “Divine Dreams”. I’d never seen anything like it, or heard anything like this, and honestly I don’t think my brain could really compute what I witnessed. Today, as I found my desensitized, weighed and muted presence, Mari’s song called me forth to feel again…

Universal Coding. Frequency. Audio Prism. Light Sequencing. In my heart, Mari materialized protection, a confined echo chamber meant to hold what your humanity is willing to give. Taking the journey through this song feels like running away in your dreams, delayed and surreal, as friction fights us back. Or could we be running towards something? A higher truth? A greater feeling? Flickering, pulsating, lucid emanations, begin to channel the ambitions we hold for realities to fathom…

My eyes witnessed what felt like extraterrestrial honing. Mari became one with her reality and warped feelings into understanding. Curiosity is the vessel in which we decode the language of our higher senses. To be high frequency is to take in the light and exude color. Mari is a high frequency being. Not only is this light transmission significant in her visual art, but she’s managed to capture it in sound waves, penetrating the soul, awakening dormant senses.

The rhythm; a dance, a step forward, ascension, then sudden recollection, then a trust fall back into a weightless void, something like echolocation to find your way back home, something like functioning outside of human sense to behold this song in its eternal entirety. It is sanctified and rainbow. It is spiritual and techno, Something that breaks bounds to exist everywhere all at once. It is ease and remembered. A falling into once fragmented, but finding itself again. Mari showcases her distinct and intentional sequences, the 0:52 mark murked by what I refused to let go, only to break me open again at 1:10.

Supernova expansion! The instrumentation of this song is so sublime! I imagine myself tunneling through a kaleidoscope; vibrational pull met with more freedom. Presence that demands closed eyes and deep focus. What we feel, what feels us, what we are willing to surrender, helps us find a way to dance with the chaos. Mari’s sentiment is that creatives may not have the words to convey what they are holding, so the world becomes our soul’s canvas as our birthright. How we would all breathe more spaciously if we danced with eternity how Mari does.

“My work is for myself. As a creative, as a musician, as an alchemist, as all of these things that I am, everything I create, it’s for myself. And if it’s not for me, it’s for other Black creatives and artists. I’m super big on expression, and my relationship with expression as well as the other black creatives I know, we grew up struggling with how to express ourselves, so I create for people like myself, people who communicate through creation!” Mari tells me.
