In the heart of Rome, more precisely at Piazza Testaccio, a pop-up shop by the Italian artist known as Fishes Invasion, or MERIOONE, has recently opened. Specializing in sticker and paste-up art featuring the “Don’t Sleep” fish motif, the store officially launched on June 8th in the afternoon and will remain open for several weeks, with opening hours approximately from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
The shop, embracing the same aesthetic that this artistic initiative promotes on the streets, offers limited edition sticker packs, posters, and plush toys featuring his iconic fish character. Through his work, MERIOONE has already “invaded” numerous cities around the world, leaving his recognizable fish emblem alongside the slogan “Don’t Sleep.”
The Rome pop-up shop represents a fusion of his artistic ambitions: moving from the urban space of the streets into a physical shop on the street itself, where the audience can literally “catch the fish.” Visitors can also find notebooks, sticky notes, socks, and a collection of mini toys and figurines. The Testaccio location was specifically chosen for its historical and local cultural value, further emphasizing the street character of the event.
The artist’s Instagram channel regularly posts updates on other cities he plans to visit, and we in New York have already had the chance to spot his works on our streets…
This pop-up format allows visitors to experience the rhythm of the “Invasion” project firsthand, combining legal merchandise with artistic interventions that exist on the edge of legality. MERIOONE’s goal is for the shop to be short-lived but memorable, sparking curiosity and a sense of community among sticker art enthusiasts. If you’re looking for an authentic street experience and a unique artifact, this pop-up store is definitely worth visiting during June.
