In the ever-expansive world of art, where the familiar often reigns supreme, one artist has chosen to look beyond the earthly and into the celestial. OuterSource, a New York-based artist, is preparing to take their audience on a journey to the furthest reaches of the universe with the upcoming solo show “Space Time” at All Street Gallery, a one day exhibit on September 14th. Known for their unique blend of cosmic imagery and street art, OuterSource has spent the last 11 years painting the city of New York with murals that are as much about the mysteries of space as he is about the human condition.

“I come from the Big Bang exhaust particles,” states OuterSource when asked about his background. “They say we’re made of star stuff, but hydrogen atoms were actually created in the first picosecond after the Big Bang. Interestingly though, some heavier elements inside of our bodies were indeed made from collapsing stars.” The universe has always been a source of bewilderment and amazement for OuterSource that it became the very fabric of their artistic identity. The sheer vastness of space gives humans the opportunity to explore, and OuterSource does that through his visionary venture. “Space has all the secrets and mystery of a blockbuster Hollywood movie.”
It’s this curiosity and desire to uncover the secrets of the universe that drives OuterSource’s work and inspires their latest show. “My show ‘Space Time’ is a celebration of my 11-year history of painting public space murals throughout New York City and beyond,” OuterSource says. The upcoming exhibition promises to transport attendees into deep space, offering not just art but an experience. “Space Time” isn’t just a collection of artworks; it’s a culmination of years spent painting public murals across New York City. The artist reflects on their journey, recalling their first mural at Centrefuge on 1st and 1st, which depicted Earth from space, nearly engulfed by gold flakes representing satellites. “Space Time” is set to debut on September 14 at All Street, located on 77 E 3rd Street. Between 1pm-5pm, there will be an interactive live painting out in front of the gallery where people can explore space through paint and creativity.
“I want everyone who comes to be transported to deep space. And I want everyone to be able to leave with a new piece of affordable original art made from my hands”
“I want everyone who comes to be transported to deep space. And I want everyone to be able to leave with a new piece of affordable original art made from my hands,” OuterSource states, referring to the glow in the dark paint cans, recycled from past projects, that viewers can take with them as a reminder to be authentic to who you are and allow yourself to shine.

OuterSource’s unique style, which began taking shape in 2008, emerged from a desire to stand out in the urban art scene. “I wanted to be different. I know they say there’s nothing new under the Sun, but when I started painting space in 2008, I didn’t really see it in the streets of New York,” the artist explains. The allure of space’s secrets and the mysteries of quantum particles have always fascinated OuterSource, leading to a body of work that explores the symbols and esoteric knowledge of space. “I’m here to explore the symbols of space and learn as much as I can about our origins and also our future,” OuterSource shares.
“Each collaboration provides an opportunity to learn, to grow, and to expand my consciousness.”
Community is a huge part of Outer Source’s artistic journey. “The people of New York are what make this city great,” OuterSource states. “Each collaboration provides an opportunity to learn, to grow, and to expand my consciousness.” Over the years, OuterSource has painted with many artists, but a few stand out as regular collaborators. “I’ll shout out my crew TA from the Shaolin. Cram, Exit, Kwue, & Ratchi are my core among many other great painters in our squad.”

Among these collaborations, OuterSource has a particular bond when working with Exit. “Anytime we rock, it’s a complete freestyle piece off the dome, which is my favorite way to paint,” OuterSource remarks on the spontaneity that flows between him and Exit. OuterSource believes that allowing the universe to influence the work often leads to the best results. “The less of my human self I put into my piece and the more unexpected randomness the universe contributes, the better the results will be. You can’t grow if you plan your work down to the inches and never stray far from your sketch.” The artist noted he also has an upcoming wall with Exit for Washington Walls on September 28th.
The synergy between OuterSource and Exit is evident in their collaborative pieces. “When Exit and I paint, our styles blend seamlessly together, and you’re left staring at the piece, noticing all these little details. You get transported to another place,” OuterSource reflects. These collaborations are not just about creating art but about pushing the boundaries of imagination and exploring new dimensions together.

For OuterSource, “Space Time” isn’t just about art—it’s about giving back. Outer Source is using this exhibition to raise funds for both public art projects and charities such as the IRC and Save the Children. “With the purchase of one of my cosmic heart canvases, you’re contributing directly to my $10,000 goal of giving money to those in need,” the artist shares. This mission is deeply personal, rooted in a childhood spent volunteering at Hospice House with his mother. “My mother leads the volunteer program and fills their days with activities to brighten their mood and warm their hearts.” OuterSource explains, “This is my way of continuing that mission and you will be directly joining me in my important goal of assisting our fellow friends who are experiencing tough times. Using the power of art we can make an impact for good.”

Looking ahead, OuterSource is also fundraising for a mural trip to Bombay, India, where he has been invited to paint at the Mood Indigo festival. This journey will allow the artist to continue exploring ancient cultures and adding new layers to their cosmic narrative.
For OuterSource, the universe isn’t just a theme—it’s a lifelong journey. “Space Time” is not just about gazing into the stars; it’s about using the power of art to explore the unknown, to inspire, and to make a tangible difference in the world. OuterSource invites you to join them on this cosmic journey. After all, as OuterSource says, “Together we are better.”
