MAD ARTS ANNOUNCES FALL EXHIBITIONS FEATURING CLOWNVAMP, STUDIO ABOVE&BELOW, AND RUTAMFI

Immersive Installations Explore AI, Environmental Future, Regeneration, Quantum Technologies, and Nostalgia

DANIA BEACH, FL (September 12, 2025) – MAD Arts, a museum, community hub and laboratory for art and technology, announces its fall season opening in October, featuring three new exhibitions: The Junk Machine by national artist ClownVamp, Regenerative Symphony and QUANTUM LENS by London-based duo Studio Above&Below, and Rose Tinted by RUTAMFI. Together, these projects highlight MAD Arts’ mission to support visionary artists working at the intersection of high and low technology. They embody the organization’s commitment to artists across scales—local, national and international—who are working at the nexus of conceptual thinking, technology, and AI, while opening pathways for collective reimagining in the fields of art and technology.

The Junk Machine by ClownVamp

Exhibition Dates: October 2 – December 7, 2025

Opening Reception: Saturday, October 4, from 6-10 p.m. RSVP HERE.

In his art, conceptual artist ClownVamp explores the promises and perils of artificial intelligence. At the heart of his installation, visitors will find a bright pink robot that generates endless, AI-produced “junk mail” on demand. Built with an embedded NVIDIA Jetson computer running a local AI model, the machine invites visitors to press a large red button, instantly producing surreal, gluttony-inspired images printed on 6×6 inch paper. No Wi-Fi, no cloud — just a never-ending flood of algorithmic output. “The Junk Machine takes the possibilities of AI and turns them inward,” said ClownVamp. “It can create beauty, humor, and engaging interactions, but it can also be industrialized, turned into a mechanism for proliferation — of past biases, of capitalist imagery, and visual noise.” Playful and unsettling in equal measure, the work confronts how AI tools, once designed for experimentation, are being transformed into engines of mass production.

Regenerative Symphony and QUANTUM LENS by Studio Above&Below

Exhibition Dates: October 18, 2025 – March 29, 2026

Opening Reception: Saturday, October 18, from 6-9 p.m.

Studio Above&Below, an award-winning London-based art and technology studio founded in 2018 by Daria Jelonek and Perry-James Sugden, is internationally recognized for data-driven, mixed-reality installations that reveal hidden systems of nature and society. At MAD Arts, the duo will present two pieces: Regenerative Symphony, an immersive installation envisioning a future (2030-2050) reliant on recycling critical minerals, challenging heavy extraction norms of current resources; and QUANTUM LENS, an immersive mixed reality artwork exploring quantum technologies.

In Regenerative Symphony, Studio Above&Below uses AI and generative audio-visual patterns to provoke new thinking in regards to materials used in advanced technology and the beauty of reuse. Symbolically echoing the structure of a traditional symphony (an orchestra’s grand composition), the installation envisions a future where the silent, constant performance of critical minerals, which are essential building blocks for advanced technology, is brought to the fore. In this immersive piece, AI and generative audio-visual patterns transform these unseen elements into an ever-changing chorus, dynamically highlighting the beauty of reuse and challenging the heavy norms of resource extraction. Here, everyday minerals perform new symphonies of regeneration, urging us to rearrange their composition rather than extract more from natural landscapes.

The artwork’s algorithmic model is rooted in the Lotka-Volterra model. It emphasizes recycling and resource interdependence by simulating interactions among the three main material groups reliant on critical minerals: consumer electronics, renewable energy, and electric transportation. These elements are integrated into an AI architecture, illustrating the cyclic, symbiotic balance within ecosystems. This algorithmic influence extends to the audiovisual elements, shaping their behavior and choreography in a poetic and critical manner. It provides insight into resource exchange and recycling, portraying critical minerals as essential players in the ongoing landscape of regeneration.

Regenerative Symphony was conceptualized, designed and produced by Studio Above&Below, with support from Tommaso Rodani and Francesca Cuturello for computational programming (AI), and Einar Fehrholz for sound design. This work was co-commissioned by MEET Digital Culture Center.

QUANTUM LENS is an immersive mixed reality artwork exploring quantum technologies in three chapters: quantum entanglement, quantum probability, and quantum tunneling. These three unusual quantum phenomena cannot be witnessed with the naked eye – by using the mixed reality as a symbolic lens, QUANTUM LENS aims to open a window to the unseen.

Created in collaboration with leading quantum scientists across the UK, this six-month art and science collaboration invites the public to poetically experience three virtual sculptures alongside immersive film – bridging quantum science, data, storytelling, and art.

Conceptualized, developed and programmed by Studio Above&Below, with sound design by Einar Fehrholz and CGI support from Axel Schotermann, QUANTUM LENS was commissioned for the public exhibition “Cosmic Titans: Art, Science, and the Quantum Universe” at Lakeside Arts in The University of Nottingham. Studio Above&Below has also exhibited globally at institutions such as the Royal Academy, Tate Modern, V&A London and Today Art Museum in Beijing, positioning them at the forefront of art, technology and sustainability.

Rose Tinted by RUTAMFI

Exhibition Dates: September 18, 2025 – March 2026

Opening Reception: Saturday, September 20, from 6-9 p.m.

Miami-based Haitian American artist RUTAMFI (Ruth Burotte) presents Rose Tinted, an installation that unravels the haunting allure of “nostalgia for a life not lived.” Drawing on the visual language of Slice of Life anime and Moe culture, the work blurs the line between memory and media. It invites audiences to question whether the moments they long for are authentically their own or shaped by fantasy, desire, and cultural archetypes. Sparked by her experience in MAD Arts’ Projection Mapping Workshop, the piece transforms professional development into immersive public art. Born in Queens and raised in Forest Park, Georgia, RUTAMFI blends watercolor and digital media across character design, public art, and large-scale installations. Her practice challenges archetypes by centering underrepresented characters, often Black and female, while engaging with themes of bias, mental health, and generational trauma. With Rose Tinted, she continues to shape Miami’s artistic landscape, crafting worlds that are playful, melancholic, and self-aware.

MAD Arts is located at 481 S Federal Hwy, Dania Beach, FL 33004. The museum is open Thursday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. General admission is $24.99 for adults. A reduced admission of $19.99 is available for children, Florida residents, seniors, students, military personnel, healthcare workers, and other eligible groups with valid ID. Annual memberships are offered at $99.99 per person and include unlimited entry for one year from the date of purchase. Tickets can be purchased at yeswearemadarts.com. For more information, follow MAD Arts on Instagram at @madarts_space.
