FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: New York, NY – November, 2023 – Acclaimed artist Peter Paid teams up with The Bronx Brewery to present Something’s Brewing, a month-long exhibit at their Hudson Yards location. Kicking off Thursday, November 16th, the show celebrates fifty years of Hip Hop and the location’s one year anniversary. Featuring a series of Peter Paid’s signature works,
combining his deep roots in hand-lettering and sign painting with years of subway graffiti, Paid successfully blurs the lines between commercial sign painting and fine art and once again demonstrates he is a master of his craft.

Since 2011, The Bronx Brewery has positioned itself as a pillar of Community, Creativity and inclusivity through their beer and spaces. With successful locations in the South Bronx and East
Village, they launched the newest Hudson Yards location in late 2022, and brought to it the same enthusiasm for art and the local community. After teaming up this summer for the Landmark Festival in Harlem, Paid & the Team at The Bronx Brewery are excited to create something special for this exhibit. The Limited edition Peter Paid x
Bronx Brewery Pilsner will be available throughout the month’s run to go along with this impressive collection of art.

PETER “PAID” LEVINE

Peter “Paid” Levine is a Brooklyn, New York born-and-raised artist, with deep roots in hand-lettering, sign painting, 1980’s subway graffiti and DJing.

While attending New York City’s prestigious High School of Art & Design at the height of the subway graffiti era, Paid was immersed in 80’s underground culture, and the early stages of cultivating his craft began. Equally as passionate about music and record collecting as he is about art, Paid dove head first into the skill of DJing. Eventually perfecting his craft well enough to spin at some of New York City’s hottest nightclubs including Limelight, Red Zone, as well as a multiyear residency at the legendary after-hours, Japan.

After several years, Paid took a brief hiatus from DJing to concentrate on a sign painting apprenticeship that would turn into a career. With over forty years of experience in the art world, from writing graffiti , album cover design, logo creation, owning and operating a commercial sign shop in Brooklyn, New York, In 2018 Peter Paid transitioned his own unique style into a focused studio practice. Merging the past, present, and future, in vivid color and familiar old school forms, Peter is intent on blurring the lines between commercial sign painting and fine art. With a can, a brush, and a 40 year deep Hip Hop resume, he uses classic sign painting to tell the tales of street culture.
