Acclaimed French Artist JR on his First Solo Show in Lisbon, Collaborating with Friends, and Changing the World
JR is a globally-active urban artist and activists known for impressive installations and innovative approach to engaging with the public. While the essential techniques of his art-making could be categorized as “photography” and “pasteup”, JR takes his art form to epic heights. From building a giant toddler peeking over the Mexico-US border wall to making the Louvre Museum Pyramid disappear, or from co-creating a piece with the New York City Ballet to community-focused participatory projects like the Can Art Save the World Foundation, JR consistently finds wild new ways to bring people and art together. Bree caught up with the acclaimed artist at his recent solo show at Underdogs Gallery in Lisbon.
