Matt Gondek wants you to know he’s done with cartoons… sort of. After almost a decade of being the exploding Simpsons guy, the Pittsburgh turned LA artist is tackling bigger concepts and ideas while still retaining the bright colors and illustrative pop art style that launched his career. But Gondek isn’t moving on unceremoniously: he recently completed a 104-painting polyptych called “Total Recall” in which the artist recalls his greatest hits through a series of small paintings, rich with visual metaphors and callbacks to works past and the life experiences that shaped his art.
