In painter Thomas Dillon’s Philadelphia studio, conscious thought is seemingly not encouraged. Known for his large-scale gestural paintings that colorfully blend figuration with abstraction, Dillon describes his foundational study of the western canon of Philosophy as “self-indoctrination” – with his personal interests broadly ranging from abstract and concrete modes of conscious experience to obscure and occult concepts of reality.
