The transition from the streets to the structured environment of incarceration profoundly affected Craig’s artistic perspective. The prison system became both a subject and a source of inspiration for his work. “When I was in prison, I started to see the system for what it was. It became important for me to use art to highlight issues like mass incarceration and oppression,” he explains. Craig’s work was recently celebrated at The Prisoner Ball, an annual event hosted by wine brand The Prisoner. This year, The Prisoner Ball—held at Chambers Hall, also known as the Surrogate’s Courthouse—marked its second annual celebration of artistic expression, combining wine, culture, and art to support justice-impacted artists.
